The Stelvio Pass, 2758m, is one of two high mountain checkpoints in the Sun Trip Europe 2021 project, the other will be the climb to Pico Velata (3398m) in southern Spain.
Located in northern Italy, very close to Switzerland, the Stelvio is a mythical mountain pass, recognised as one of the most difficult in the Alps. The climb that should be favoured by our adventurers, from the village of Prato, offers a slope of 24 km at more than 7% average, with a slope closer to 9% on the last 15 km! The engines, and the legs, will be pushed to the limit on this climb, and the heaviest bikes may have difficulty reaching the top.
As a reward for reaching the summit, we discuss a deal with the incredible Alpengasthof Tibet Hütte hotel-restaurant, located above the pass at an altitude of over 2800 metres! This will be a great place to stop before continuing on through the Dolomites and on to Spain.
