DAY 15 <-> DAY 13
7 participants had arrived in Morocco by the evening of this 14th stage. Further north Miguel Letor entered Portugal and Jean-Louis Mérelle passed checkpoint 2.
In Morocco, Vivien Dettwiller passed Checkpoint 3 (Rabat), followed by Géry and Baudouin, while the Germans Kilian and Jonas passed Checkpoint 4 (Oualidia). The travel atmosphere is in full swing!
Ahead of them, Checkpoint 6 awaited the leaders, at the southernmost point of the course, in Sidi Ifni.
Jean-Marc Dubouloz passed through with a lead of almost two hours over Jack Butler, both men still reeling from their collision the day before.
They didn’t have time to visit the Legzira Arch, but we hope that the next ones will enjoy it more.
150 km Jean-Marc and Jack were plunged into a more desert-like atmosphere, and the Sun Trip Destination Sahara had come to an end.
Having opted for a more direct route, Jack Butler gradually made up ground, less affected by the side wind than his direct rival. Four times since the start, the two champions have overtaken each other, taking the lead in turn. And on the evening of stage 14, they finished in the same place, after 370km of desert adventure.
The two champions are now heading for Zagora, the project’s most desolate area.
