Adventurers on solar bikes choosing their course through Eurasia. Inspired by unassisted yacht races around the world, the Sun Trip is writing a new page in the world of overland adventures.

The solar bike of Alex
Trike: Hp Velotechnik Scorpion FS26 2014.
Trailer: Topeak Journey with modified wheel to 20" instead of 16". To reduce rolling resistance and handle bumps better.
Motor: GMAC 10T geared hub motor with no freewheeling for extremely good regenative braking. Electronic freewheeling via the phaserunner motor controller.
Cycle Analyst V3 bike computer.
Battery: Luna Cycle 48v/24ah 1150wh
Solarpanels: Sunbeamsystem Tough ++
2x120w trike and 2x87w trailer.
I use torque sensing technology instead of cadence sensing.
Charge controllers: 2 Genasun Gv-8 boost lithium @54.6v
Top speed is 44kph on straight road and a tailwind.
A Real Technical Specialist
The Swede, passionate about bikes and technology, was registered for the Sun Trip 2020 but had to withdraw at the start of the year, for professional reasons.
With the postponement to 2021 he is back in the game!
The first Swede to set off on the Sun Trip, ideal!
