For the first time in its history, the Sun Trip set its sights on the Mediterranean coast. And what better way to do this than to follow the legendary Route des Grandes Alpes! After passing through the Galibier, some climbed the Izoard and all passed through the green meadows of the Col de Vars.
The following day, the 3rd day of adventure began for many with a new challenge, with the Col de la Bonette and its 2715m altitude. A true digest of nature over a 20km ascent.
100 km down the road, the group arrived at the seaside town of Cagnes-sur-Mer. Tomorrow, in Nice, the corporate participants will stop their journey, after 450km of an experience that will (we hope) mark their lives. The Sun Trip Alpes participants will head for Italy, with over 1,500 km still to go.
Please note that three participants will skip the Nice stage due to technical problems. They are automatically disqualified from the challenges, but will be back in Italy in the coming days.
Jean-Louis Merelle is already in Italy. Lionel Goddard will go over the Col de la Madeleine tomorrow. Last but not least, Chloé George is sleeping tonight at 2300 m on the ascent of La Bonette (!) and will be crossing into Italy via the Col de Larche. Vive l’aventure!
